LAHORE, Oct 6: The LDA and Wasa have begun working on a feasibility study for the construction of waste water treatment plants on the Ravi at two sites with a sum of Rs486 million.
Sources said the Punjab government had included the proposal to start these projects along with its landmark Ravi Development Zone project worth seven billion dollars and Wasa was given the task to conduct the study.
An amount of Rs261 million has been earmarked for the construction of waste water treatment plant at the northern site (Mahmood Booti/Salamatpura) while Rs225 million has been reserved for the construction of plant at the south-western site (Babu Sabu).
Wasa sources revealed that a huge amount would be required for these projects and the authority had decided to conduct the feasibility study.
A Japanese organisation, JICA, also evinced interest in financing the project through soft loan. The final decision would be taken after the detailed feasibility report, they said. — APP
