ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is among 148 lawmakers who are yet to file their statements of assets and liabilities with the Election Commission of Pakistan, a week after the last date for the purpose specified in the law.
On the last date (Sept 30), a letter was received by the ECP from the Prime Minister’s Secretariat seeking five more days for filing the prime minister’s statement. It further pointed out that the prime minister could not do so because he was on a foreign visit. The prime minister has now returned and several days have passed, but still he has not submitted the same with the ECP.
Informed sources told Dawn that other prominent figures in the list include KPK Chief Minsiter Pervez Khatak, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad, Minister of State for Privatisation Khurram Dastgir Khan and Sindh Minister for Local Government Owais Ahmad, commonly known as Owais Tappi.
The list also includes six senators. Four of them belong to PPP and one each to MQM and ANP. They include former minister Rehman Malik, Islamuddin Sheikh, Syed Faisal Raza Abidi, Haji Saifullah Khan Bangash, Syed Mustafa Kamal and Azam Khan Hoti.
Other members of the National Assembly who have yet to file their statements of assets and liabilities include Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho (PPP), Zafarullah Khan Jamali (PML-N), Chaudhry Jaffar Iqbal (PML-N) Mehmood Khan Achakzai (PkMAP), Nauman Islam Sheikh (PPP), Dawar Khan Kundi (PTI) retired Colonel Amirullah Marwat (PTI), Dr Darshan, Isphanyar M. Bhandara, Mohammad Nazir Khan, Chaudhry Hamid Hameed, Qaiser Ahmad Sheikh, Mehr Ishtiak Ahmad, Abdul Rehman Kanju and Sheikh Fayyaz uddin (PML-N), Sardar Kamal Khan Chang, Shmasun Nisa and Shah Jahan Baloch (PPP), Shehryar Afridi, Nasir Khan Kgatak, Qaiser Jamal, Asad Umar and Ghulam Sarwar Khan (PTI), Abdul Rahim Mandokhel and Abdul Qahar Wadan (PKMAP), Sohail Mansoor Khawaja (MQM), Moulvi Agha Mohammad (JUI-F), Usman Khan Tarrakai (Awami Jamhoori Ittehad Pakistan) and independent Shah Jee Gul Afridi and Nasir Khan.
Of 20 members of the Sindh Assembly who did not submit their statements include 17 from PPP and one each from PML-N, MQM and NPP. They are: Owais Muzaffar, Ghulam Abid Khan, Abdul Rauf Khan Khosa, Syed Faseeh Ahmad Shah, Pir Syed Fazal Ali Shah Jeelani, Mohammad Ali Bhutto, Aziz Ahmad Jatio, Nawab Ghaibi Sardar Khan Chandio, Makhdoom Rafique Zaman, Bashir Ahmad Halepoto, Jameel Ahmad Bhurgari, Parveen Aziz Junejo Ms Saniya, Ms Kulsoom Akhtar Chandio, Rukhsana Shah and Farhat Seemi (PPP), Abdul Haseeb (MQM), Soorath Thebo (PML-N) and Ghulam Rasool Khan Jatoi (NPP).
Names of 32 members of the Punjab Assembly who are yet to file the statements are: Chaudhry Abdul Razzaq Dhiloon, Chaudhry Rafaqat Hussain Gujjar, Chaudhry Mohammad Asad Ullah, Hameeda Waheedud Din, Syed Tariq Yaqub, Chaudhry Mohsin Ashraf, Khawaja Mohammad Waseem, Majid Zahoor, Malik Ghulam Habib Awan, Khurram Ijaz Chattah, Mohammad Kashif, Malik Mohammad Ahmad Khan, Ali Abbas, Kiran Imran, Shazia Tariq and Tariq Masih Gill (PML-N), Malik Taimoor Masood, Asif Mehmood, Mohammad Sibtain Khan, Mian Aslam Iqbal, Dr Murad Raas, Masood Shafqat, Javed Akhtar, Waheed Asghar Dogar, Abdul Majeed Khan Niazi and Raheela Anwar (PTI), Chaudhry Ghulam Murtaza and Ms Ghazala Shaheen (PML-Z), Javeda Khalid Khan (PML-Q), Khurram Jehangir Wattoo (PPP) and independents Najeebullah Khan and Abdul Razzaq Khan Niazi.
Nine members of the Balochistan Assembly who are still to file their statements are: Meer Mohammad Asim Kurd Geelo, Abdul Majeed Khan, Abdul Raheem Ziaratwala, Mir Aamir Khan Rind, Mir Hammal Kalmati, Dr Shama Ishaq Baloch, Dr Ruqia Saeed Hashmi, and Handley Masih.
Forty-seven members of the KPK Assembly have also not yet filed the statements.
