LAHORE, Oct 8: Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded impressive victories on the opening day of the fourth NBP National Disabled T20 Pentangular Cup at the LCCA ground here on Tuesday.

Half centuries by Sadeem Baig and Iftikhar Ahmed helped Punjab beat Balochistan by six wickets.

Chasing a winning target of 175 in 20 overs, Sadeem hit a knock of 60 with three sixes and two fours, while Iftikhar made 58 with two sixes and seven fours to reach 178-4 in 18.5 overs.

Earlier, Majid Hussain (46) and Gul Mohammad (32) were the key scorers in Balochistan’s 174-7.

For Punjab, Mohammad Safdar, Zulifqar Ali and Abdullah captured two wickets each for 17, 18 and 39 runs respectively.

Sadeem was declared the Man-of-the-Match.

In the second match, KP defeated Federal Area by 32 runs.

Batting first, KP piled up 159 for loss of six wickets in 20 overs with Wajid Alam (45, four fours) and M Saeed (30, two fours) stealing the limelight. Altaf took two wickets for 29.

In reply, Federal Area were restricted to 127 for all in 20 overs with only Altaf Ahmed (40, one six, three fours) and Rehan Ghani (24, one six and one four) being the main scorers.

Leg-spinner Fayyaz Ahmad did the main damage to Federal Area by taking four wickets for 30, while Wajid Alam snared two wickets for 29. Wajid was also declared the Man-of-the-Match.—Sports Reporter
