GUJRAT, Oct 8: Around 16 CNG stations were sealed for violating the gas holiday in various parts of the district.

Local authorities of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited raided various CNG stations and found 14 in Gujrat tehsil and two in Kharian tehsil violating the gas holiday.

Officials of the local Sui gas department said such raids would continue.

On the other hand, a delegation of the Gujrat CNG Station Owners Association called on DCO Asif Lodhi and local SNGPL officials and demanded the sealed CNG stations be opened.

DELIMITATION: A delegation of leaders from opposition parties on Tuesday conveyed their reservations to the district administration over alleged irregularities and meddling by PML-N’s local leaders in the ongoing delimitation of union councils and wards for local government elections.

The delegation comprised PPP Gujrat President Tahir Zaman Kaira and Gujrat Tehsil President Inam Elahi Butt, PML-Q’s former MPA Khalid Asghar Ghural and former city nazim Chaudhry Irshad Warraich, PTI’s Afzal Gondal and Tanveer Gull and JI’s Dr Tariq Saleem and Chaudhry Ansar Dhool.

The delegation claimed one-sided delimitation was being carried out on the whims of PML-N legislators and other political parties had not been consulted over the matter.

The DCO assured the delegation that once the proposed delimitations were done lists would be displayed at public places and government offices. Everyone would have a right to challenge or file an appeal against the proposed delimitation, he added.

The DCO told the delegation the final list of proposed delimitation could be displayed by Wednesday evening (today).
