PM chairs high-level meeting on national security

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting on the security situation prevailing in the country.

According to a statement issued here by the prime minister’s office, the meeting reviewed the overall security situation in the country.

The meeting was attended by Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, prime minister’s Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, and Special Assistant to prime minister Tariq Fatemi.

Chief of Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and Director General of Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt Gen Zaheerul Islam also attended the meeting.

Sources told DawnNews that the prime minister’s upcoming trip to the United States and the process of peace talks with militants were also discussed during the high-level session.
