KARACHI, Oct 26: Karachi Whites and Rawalpindi both enjoyed innings win in their first-round matches at the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy National Cricket Championship on Saturday.

Karachi Whites needed just 10.2 overs to claim the remaining three wickets that Lahore Shalimar lost to be dismissed for 140 in their second innings at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Lahore Shalimar, who were humiliated by an innings and 20 runs, could add only 28 runs to their overnight tally of 112-7. Paceman Babar Rehman took a brace on Saturday to finish with 3-23 in 13.3 overs.

But the most successful Karachi Whites bowler was Fahim Ahmed who ended up with figures of 4-27 and match haul of 7-77.

Rawalpindi encountered no major hassle while cruising to an innings and 130-run triumph against Bahawalpur at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Bahawalpur, resuming at 166-3, subsided to 255 all out in the second innings as they lost the remaining seven wickets for the addition of 89 runs. Medium-pacer Haseeb Azam, older brother of Pakistan discard Hammad Azam, captured five wickets for 41 to finish with a match bag of 9-58.

Rawalpindi and Karachi Whites thus emulated Sialkot who on Friday had crushed Lahore Ravi by innings and 52 runs at the LCCA Ground in Lahore.

Abbottabad wicket-keeper Rehan Afridi scored his second hundred of the match as the visitors took three points in the drawn game against Karachi Blues here at the National Stadium.
