BADIN: The provincial government has restored all eight town committees of Badin district and increased the number of union councils from 45 to 68 during the delimitation process.
The eight town committees were abolished in 2001 after former military dictator retired Gen Pervez Musharraf introduced his devolution of power plan system.
According to lists displayed by the office of the Badin deputy commissioner, based on the 1998 population census the district shall have two municipal committees (MCs), eight town committees (TCs) and 68 union councils (UCs).
The list of the proposed delimitation and boundaries had been sent to the Hyderabad commissioner.
The delimitation has caused anger among certain people who alleged that it was carried out in an unfair and unjustified manner.
