KARACHI: The Sindh government on Wednesday decided to form a new district in the city comprising of Landhi, Korangi and Shah Faisal Colony, DawnNews reported.

After the formation of the new district, there will be six districts in the city including District East, West, South, Central and Malir.

A suggestion to create another district in Karachi comprising of Sarjani Town, Khuda ki Basti and Gulshan-e-Maymar was also floated along with changes in the limits of old existing districts.

It was also decided that the limits of Malir, South and Central districts would also be changed.

The bill for changes in Local Bodies was presented in Sindh Assembly.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement has been a strong opponent of Pakistan People’s Party’s move for delimitation in Sindh province, particularly in Karachi.
