CHARSADDA, Oct 31: A government-run school for girls in Shabqadar was reopened after 16 years to facilitate hundreds of students of this far-flung and backward area to get basic education.

The reopening order was issued by district education officer (EDO) Rabia Anis, who told journalists that the ‘ghost school’ in Kaptan Korona remained closed since 1997.

She said that over 150 girls of the locality had no other option but to go to a middle school in a far-away area. She said that a large number of other girls were deprived of education as their parents could not afford to send them to the school in far away area.

Ms Anis said that getting education was the basic right of every girl and government would leave no stone unturned to provide quality education to them. She said that every step would be taken to provide quality education to girls in government educational institutions to repose confidence of parents in the government schools.

Ms Anis urged the teachers to ensure their presence at the school for bright future of the girls of the backward area of the district. She said that stern action would be taken against those teachers, who were found absent from schools. She said that negligence in duty would not be tolerated and no leniency would be shown to habitual absentee teachers.
