GUJRANWALA, Nov 11: About 50 more activists of defunct religious outfits, including Lashkar-i-Jhangvi and Sipah Sahaba Pakistan, besides Afghan nationals were arrested on Monday in connection with the killing of Shia Ulema Council finance secretary Javed Talat and two other persons.

Unidentified bike riders had shot dead three persons in two imambargahs in the city early on Saturday.

Regional Police Officer Saad Akhter Bharwana and City Police Officer Raja Rifat said that solid security measures had been taken in and around the city for Ashura Muharram.

They said heavy contingents of police and rangers had been deployed at sensitive places while all tazia processions and majalis would be monitored through video cameras.
