ATTOCK, Nov 13: The Muharram 8 procession of Zuljinnah was taken out from Imambargah Punjtani on Wednesday amid heavy deployment of police and elite forces.

The procession was taken out with religious zeal under the auspices of Anjuman-e-Janisarhan Hussain.

The participants offered prayer at the Fawara Chowk led by Allama Akbar Ali Shakri.

Addressing the mourners, Allama Naqi Naqvi said Karbala was a lesson which gave the message of upholding righteousness and truth for eternal success.

“Imam Hussain (AS) is not only a hero of Islamic history but also a symbol of a unique philosophy which draws a line between noble and evil forces,” he said.

He added that the nation had to realise its responsibilities and work towards promoting unity and religious harmony.

The procession passed through its traditional route and ended peacefully at Imambargah Hussania in the evening.

Following the recent terrorism incidents, security was beefed up to ensure peaceful processions.

All roads leading to the procession venue were heavily guarded and procession routes were lined with barbed wires which were manned by the police.

The armed forces and personnel of intelligence agencies were also present to handle any untoward incident.

The District Police Officer Israr Ahmed Khan and others officials also visited the Imambargahs and procession route at intervals to monitor the security arrangements.

Sabeels of water and milk, and stalls of langar, were also setup by the procession’s organisers in collaboration with the tehsil municipal administration at different points. A special mobile medical team of the district headquarters hospital remained with the procession till the end.
