DUBAI: South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn admitted he regretted laughing after getting Pakistan Twenty20 captain Mohammad Hafeez out for nought in his team's nine-wicket win.
“I don't know what I did. It was a bit silly,” said Steyn on Thursday after he had helped restrict Pakistan to 98-9 in 20 overs.
“I think I have got him out a couple of times now so you tend to do silly things and I kind of regret it afterwards but that is the kind of way I play the game and I accept the same thing from the opposition coming at me.”
Steyn has dismissed Hafeez eight times in seven Tests, three times in eight one-dayers and now once in Twenty20s.
The second and last T20 of the current series between the two sides takes place in Dubai on Friday.

He should have pointed finger at him and remove his hands from his face and made boisterous laugh, laughed so hard that he fell on the ground and apologized that he should have laughed at all of the team.
Mr Sethi the master spin doctor I am sure will

Sorry for being off the topic but have a look at the gloves, bat, inner, kit and everything that Hafeez has in this photo. I bet these will be one of the most valuable things if auctioned because they are almost brand new and have hardly been put to use on the field.

I hope he gets Hafeez out in the 2nd T20 as well. That will be great =) and in the long run will help Pakistan. It is time for the Prof. to start practicing what he teaches to others ; accept he is not an opener and in T20 his role only fits him to come at No. 4,5 or 6.

Ohh Hafeez !!! Look what you are offering your fans. You people have made a joke of Pakistani cricket.People are laughing on you.How shameful! how shameful!! Is this the same Pakistani team which created fear among the mighty Australians when they were world champions? Is this the team which featured greats like Imran Khan, Miandad,Inzamam-ul-Haq,Yousuf,Saed Anwar,Wasim akram.Waqar,Shoaib Akhter? What an insult. Steyn was not laughing on you Hafeez, he was laughing on all Pakistani fans who follow you everytime, who expect you to deliver everytime. You may or may not feel ashamed but I felt humiliated and insulted as a fan of Pakistani cricket.

@Racer: Professor needs to learn first before he can teach anyone a lesson for sure bowler like Steyn. Professor should only play club level cricket since that is where he can dominate.

Steyn was pointing the obvious which Pakistan selectors don't seems to see that Hafeez does not belong in the group that can compete with the best in the world. How many more chances we will give to a batsman who has no footwork and who do not know which ball to drive and which to leave.

Hafeez cannot be selected on his batting alone with an average of 28.00. If he is in the team as an all-rounder then his batting number should be lower down the order. Onlt batsmen with close to 50 or a minimum of 40.00 plus average should be selected as top order batsmen.

the only thing silly in this whole situation is Hafeez the most utterly failed opening batsman playing international level cricket. Even club level players have much better batting technique and shot selection than this useless excuse of an opener. Yet only in Pakistan we would such miserably listless nincompoops continuing to stay in the national side for so long.

It is childish and mocking behaviour, not worthy of a great bowler like Steyn. He needs to introspect. As for pakistan its fundamental problem is that it needs a culture of diversity which goes against the grain of it creation which is an historical mistake.

It was an indirect signal for Hafeez but only if he could understand, to show the guts and the grit to read the "writings on the wall" as they say and and maybe, immediately retire from all types, forms, design and formats of cricket.
It is mind-boggling to see so many inept cricketers making it to the Pakistani cricket team ranks and still sticking there without performing. At the same time, they feel proud to be called as 'professors.' What a tragedy?

Hafeez will fail miserably again in the upcoming series in South Africa. However, he will do well against weaker teams in upcoming matches. As a result, he will still remain in the team. Guys like him perform well against weaker teams and then never leave the team despite their poor performance and lack of technique. He needs to show some class and self respect and go back to first class cricket.

@Dr. Salaria, Aamir Ahmad:
OH really Dr. Ahmed are you not the same person you wrote on another blog that Sohail Tanveer should be ashamed and rightly punished 10% of his match fees for pointing towards the pavilion after he got a South African player out, I am ashamed of people like you. I am not saying what Sohail Tanveer did was right all I am saying is that why only Pakistani players are punished, every player from all over the cricketing world who does wrong should be punished.
As an example for people like you, who only saw Shahid Afridi bite the ball and punished him, no one even asked why did he do that NO NO NO not because we were loosing but because he had complained to the umpire that the ball was out of shape and should be changed not once but 3 times and the umpire kept refusing to change the ball so as a protest Afridi with his mouth tried to bring the bubble down, everyone including people like you screamed cheating and so Afridi was punished without a hearing South African player is caught admits to be guilty and the umpire says that he knows that the player in his heart did not mean to do it... WHAT!!! the man said he was guilty and was caught on camera, and he is not punished you know why because his whole team his board and fans were behind him, NOT LIKE YOU, SO SHAME ON YOU... Indian player Raina was caught on tape with a notorious female who is associated with the match and spot fixers in Sri Lanka was not punished or even talked about more examples I can go on and on, or just Shame on You...

Sohail Tanvir is fined for gesturing AB De Villiers towards the pavilion. Can ICC be more biased?. I mean isn't there any law in the ICC code of conduct that you can't laugh at or make mockery of a player after taking his wicket?. How come a bowler who takes a wicket then laughs mockingly at the batsman doesn't get charged but a bowler who takes a wicket and gestures the batsman towards pavilion gets charged?.
I'm not happy with Hafeez's performance, nor am i defending him, but ICC's biased rulings shouldn't be ignored.

I wonder what difference will there be when Hafeez faces up to steyn in SA. He has undoubtedly proved homself against Steyn and has undoubtedly convinced the supporters and the world that he cannot play Steyn, the only ones not convinced are the selectors. I wonder what else are they hoping for?
