PESHAWAR, Nov 16: Joint action committee of the Jamaat-i-Islami and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf will on Sunday (today) chalk out a joint strategy concerning suspension of supplies for Nato forces via Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Both the parties have announced to organise a sit-in protest on main road in Peshawar on Wednesday next to halt transportation of supplies for Nato forces in Afghanistan. The JI and PTI are coalition partners in the provincial government.

A press release issued from the JI’s provincial secretariat here Saturday quoted senior provincial minister Sirajul Haq as saying that supplies for Nato forces would be suspended on Nov 20 at all costs. It said that the two coalition partners would work out the plan regarding suspension of supplies via Peshawar-Torkham Highway. Leaders of the two parties would address a joint press conference in Peshawar on Sunday in which they would announce details about their protest.

Mr Haq said that the federal government would have to review foreign policy in the light of joint resolutions and recommendations of the parliament and All Parties Conference. He said that his party would not allow any power to make Pakistan a US colony. He said that the US drone strikes in Waziristan were attacks on Pakistan’s sovereignty.

In its statement the JI said that thousands of its workers would take part in the protest. — Bureau Report
