THE new inspector-general of police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nasir Durrani, in his inaugural speech has vowed to eliminate corruption, shoulder-promotions and political appointments in the department and will promote merit.
I would like to remind the IGP that DSPs of batch 1978 (ASIs of 1978) are senior to their 1977 (ASIs of 1977) batch in the recent list of seniority which was corrected by the former IGP Ihsan Ghani. But some of the officials, along with the DSPs of 1978 batch, changed it for their purpose.
This is injustice to the DSPs of 1977 who are senior to those of the 1978 batch. Apart from this, the 1978 batch officers were promoted to the rank of inspector and DSP before their seniors of 1977.
Now the promotions to the rank of SP will take place and the juniors will be appointed SPs, while seniors will be deprived of their promotions.
The chief justice of the Peshawar High Court and the IGP, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, are requested to correct the seniority list according to merit so that deserving officers get their promotions at the right time.
