KARACHI, Nov 18: Pakistan, known for its generous hospitality the world over, will play host to an international snooker event in the city next year.

According to annual calendar of 2014 released by the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Federation (PBSF) on Monday, the second Asian Team Event and third 6-Red Snooker will be staged from Aug 17 to 23.

The event was awarded by the Asian Confederation of Billiards Sports (ACBS) to Pakistan following formal approval of its bid.

It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan had hosted the 29th Asian Snooker Championship in the city earlier this year.

Following is the calendar:

Sixth national junior under-21 snooker championship (venue to be decided later) January; 39th national snooker championship (Karachi Gymkhana) February; 15th Asian under-21 snooker championship (Lucknow) April 5 to 11; 30th Asian snooker championship (Fujaira, UAE) April 26 to May 3; IBSF world 6-Red and team event snooker championship (venue to be decided later) May 10-16; second national ranking snooker championship (Karachi) June; IBSF world under-21 snooker championship (venue to be decided later) July 5 to 16; second Asian team event and third 6-Red snooker championship (Karachi) Aug 17 to 23; SangSom 6-Red world championship (Bangkok) September 1 to 7; third national ranking snooker championship (Karachi) October; IBSF world snooker championship (venue to be decided later) October 18 to 30; fourth national ranking snooker championship (Karachi) November.—Sports Correspondent
