KATMANDU: A bus has veered off a mountain road in western Nepal, killing 11 people and injuring 34.

According to government administrator Sagar Mani Parajuli, the bus went off the road and rolled for another 300 meters (990 feet).

Residents and police pulled out the bodies and the injured from the wreckage near Melkharka village on Sunday.

The road is narrow with hairpin bents and the visibility was poor because of morning fog.

Bus accidents in Nepal are generally blamed on poorly maintained roads and public vehicles.
