QUETTA, Dec 4: As Balochistan prepares for the local government elections scheduled for Saturday, a vehicle of security forces was attacked in Khuzdar and two candidates elected unopposed were kidnapped in Turbat on Wednesday.

Official sources said two gunmen opened fire on the vehicle of the Frontier Corps in Pindran area of Khuzdar. FC personnel returned fire, killed one of the assailants and injured the other who was arrested.

The FC vehicle was patrolling between Pindran and Zehri area to provide protection to vehicles carrying election material, an FC spokesman said.

In the Turbat incident, a group of armed men kidnapped two candidates who had been elected unopposed.

Police said Abdul Rauf and Zafarullah of the National Party were going home when five men on motorcycles intercepted them and whisked them away.
