ABBOTTABAD Dec 5: The local anti-corruption cell has detected two ghost schools in Sherwan area of the district and recommended to the authorities to register a case against the concerned officials of education department.

The anti-corruption team, headed by Assistant Director Mehmood Khan, raided two primary schools for girls in Lakhala and Kaengor villages that were established five years ago.

No educational activity was carried out in those schools since their establishment but the teachers were drawing their salaries regularly, sources said.

The raiding team produced watchmen of both the schools before the court of local magistrate to record their statements.

The watchmen said that students were not enrolled by the administration of the schools. They said that they were taking care of the school buildings only.

Sources said that a case would be registered against the assistant district education officer, deputy district officer and executive district officers in that regard.

They said that notices were served on the officials for embezzlement of millions of rupees and inflicting losses on the national exchequer.
