HYDERABAD, Dec 6: The opening ceremony of the Hyderabad Inter-school Games 2013 was held at the Board Stadium here on Friday.

The Games have been organised by the Hyderabad Divisional Olympic Association in collaboration with the Sindh Olympic Association.

Amir Shafique, BISE secretary, was the chief guest at the opening ceremony and declared the Games open. Later, different schools participated in a march past.

Several disciplines for boys and girls will feature in the Games including athletics, basketball, boxing, chess, cycling, volleyball, tug of war, throwball, netball, table tennis, karate, badminton and handball.

The opening match of the Games was a handball contest in which Wapda School beat Educator School 1-0. In the girls handball contest, Double Section Girls School beat Govt Girls High School Unit 6 3-1.

Mazharul Haque (President HDOA), Abdul Razzak Arain, Secretary HDOA, Irshad Makhdoom (DSO), Amir Kifayat, Aqeel Ahmed, Rehana Bhatti, Aisha Arain, Fatima Razzak, Misbah, Bushra, Hussain Imam, Shujaat Hussain, Naeema Shah and other dignitaries were also present on this occasion.—Agencies
