HYDERABAD, March 24: The 261st Urs of Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai will be inaugurated by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Friday.
According to the day’s programme, Malakhro (Sindhi wrestling contest) will be held at the Bhitshah stadium at which the Sindh Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Mr Qamar Mansoor, will be the chief guest.
A Sughar conference will be held at the Shah Latif auditorium in the evening where folk artistes will present mystical poems.
A musical evening will be held at 8pm which will be presided over by the Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism Mr Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani.
On the second day, a literary conference will be held at the Mumtaz Mirza auditorium in the morning which will be presided over by Senior Minister Syed Sardar Ahmed.
In the evening, there will be a performance of Latifi Raag by the Fuqra of the shrine.
The three-day urs celebrations will conclude with distribution of Latif awards followed by Raag. Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim will be the chief guest.
MESSAGE: The founder of Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Altaf Hussain, on Thursday called for seeking guidance from the eternal message of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.
Mr Hussain called upon all the people of Sindh to unite to achieve their rights and to confront the forces of extremism and exploitation.
He said that Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai’s message was not only for the people of this province. His poetry carried message for the humanity, he said.
