SUKKUR, July 9: A fifteen per cent water shortage has been recorded at the three barrages of Sindh and Sindh and Balochistan sorted out a joint strategy to deal with the problem.
According to Sukkur Barrage Chief Engineer Agha Aijaz Ahmed, a meeting was held here on Friday between Balochistan Irrigation Secretary Amanullah Khan and his counterpart from Sindh, Shuja Ahmed Junejo. They discussed ways of dealing with water scarcity.
The Balochistan secretary irrigation was apprised that the shortage was due to decrease in the levels of Khirthar and N.W canals, causing a cut in Balochistan’s share of water.
However, he was told that his province would get its share as soon as the pond level improved.
