SUKKUR, June 17: More than 200 Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam activists here on Sunday took out a protest procession against construction of the Thal canal.

Led by Maulana Mohammad Murad Halijvi and Maulana Abdul Haq, the procession after marching through different thoroughfares terminated at the local press club.

Talking to the protesters outside the press club, JUI leaders warned the government that the people of Sindh would launch a joint struggle against construction of the Thal canal throughout the province if the project was not shelved.
