KOHAT, Dec 13: The electricity consumers in Kohat are experiencing the problem of low voltage and fluctuations in power supply for last five years due to delay in installation of 132kV capacitor (transformer) in the grid station located here on Rawalpindi road.

The capacitor is lying in Peshawar for the last several years. The foundation for the capacitor was constructed five years ago, but it was still lying in the Peshawar Electric Supply Company’s Jamrud warehouse while due to low voltage electronic gadgets had been developing faults and costing the consumers heavily for their repair.

Insiders said that the 40mva transformer which was installed a few days ago was not working according to its load capacity due to the absence of 2,500 ampere input panel. The voltage fluctuation problem has aggravated because the system is being run with 1,600 ampere input panel.

The electricity systems in Tank and Bannu, which were approved after Kohat, had been connected to the 132kV capacitor.

The people of Kohat have appealed to chairman of the Pesco board of directors, Engineer Malik Asad, to expedite installation of the needed capacitor to solve the problem of low voltage. The people have already been facing prolonged power loadshedding. They demanded of the Pesco to install 2,500 ampere input panel capacitor with the 40mva transformer for smooth power supply.

MASTER PLAN: Commissioner Kohat division Jalaluddin has asked the relevant departments to prepare a master plan for Kohat city workable for next 25 years to manage increasing population and its basic needs.

He was chairing a meeting at his office which was attended by superintendent engineer C&W department Riaz Arshad, KDA Town project director Najeebur Rehman, municipal officer Mohammad Shoaib and head of public health engineering Ghulam Mujtaba besides other officers. —Correspondent
