ISLAMABAD, Dec 14: Welcoming the European Parliament’s decision to grant the GSP-Plus status to Pakistan which will allow duty-free access of Pakistani products to European markets from Jan 1, former president Asif Ali Zardari said it was the result of policies made by the Peoples Party during its tenure in office.

“Continuation of policies, particularly in economic spheres, is the most critical if Pakistan is to overcome its myriad economic problems,” Mr Zardari said in a statement issued by PPP on Saturday.

He said it was heartening to note that the European Parliament had approved measures under which Pakistan along with some other countries would be entitled to the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) Plus Scheme.
