Pakistan Post Director-General Syed Ghulam Panjtan Rizvi is also arriving in Lahore from Islamabad to attend the event. Among other prominent personalities attending the event are Dr Saleem Akhtar and teacher of Parveen Shakir, Irfana Aziz. Ms Aziz is coming from Canada to be part of the event.

A friend of Parveen Shakir, Parveen Qadir Agha, who is the in-charge of Parveen Shakir Trust in Islamabad, would also attend function.

Officials said Pakistan Post would also set up a counter at the venue where thousands of newly launched stamps on Parveen Shakir would be available for sale. Postal officers, literary community and stamp collectors are likely to attend the event.

Parveen started writing at an early age and published her first volume of poetry, Khushbu’, to great acclaim, in 1976.
