LAHORE: Land acquisition for setting up of University of Engineering and Technology Narowal campus and a tehsil headquarters hospital at Raiwind was among the 10 schemes approved by the Punjab government on Tuesday with an estimated cost of Rs4.379 billion.

Approved in the 22nd meeting of Provincial Development Working Party of current fiscal year 2013-14, the schemes include acquisition of 1,604-kanal and 10-marla land for a UET’s campus in Narowal district at a cost of Rs296.182 million; establishment of a 60-bed THQ hospital in Raiwind at a cost of Rs345.008 million; establishment of an intensive care unit at Bahawal Victoria Hospital (revised) at a cost of Rs275.522 million and provision of laptops at a cost of Rs1 billion.

Comprehensive water supply and sewerage schemes were approved for Mianwali at a cost of Rs431.646m, for Jauharabad district headquarters in Khushab district at Rs479.335m and for Khushab at a cost of Rs314.591m. The other schemes approved include establishment of a strategic planning/reform unit in irrigation department (PC-II) at a cost of Rs159.85m; widening and improvement of THAT Pail road (from Km No 165.75 to 193.20, intersection Talagang Bypass, total length 32.21km) in Chakwal district at a cost of Rs858.826m; dualisation of Khushab-Muzaffargarh road from railway crossing to Khanpur, Bagga Sher (from km No 287.55 to 292, total length 4.45 km) at a cost of Rs218.101m.
