LARKANA: Members of the Primary Teachers Association (PTA) took out a procession on Wednesday in protest against ‘unnecessary delay’ in accepting their charter of demands.

Led by PTA central president Rafique Jarwar and Liaquat Daidar, they set off from P.V. Primary school and chanting slogans against the inaction of the education department, assembled outside the main gate of Jinnahbagh.

They also staged a sit-in there and delivered speeches criticising the department for red-tapism. They said that instead of solving teachers’ issues, the government had transferred 151 teachers from Mitthi and Tharparkar to Karachi. Calling for early cancellation of such orders, the speakers called for regularisation of teachers recruited in 2010.

They said that denying teachers son quota in jobs was quite uncalled for and demanded grade 17 for teachers on the pattern of Punjab and Balochistan.

They threatened to launch a protest from Dec 13 if their demands were not met in accordance with the charter of demands.

Later they demonstrated outside the local press club and dispersed.
