Imran vows to continue anti-drone campaign

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Thursday defended his party’s stance against the US drone strikes in Pakistan and reaffirmed his resolve to continue struggle till these were stopped.
Speaking to media representatives after inaugurating the Right to Information office here at Tasneem Plaza in Peshawar cantonment, he said protest against drone strikes would continue until these were stopped.
“Peace cannot be attained till the drone strikes are completely halted in Pakistan,” said the PTI chief. He said his party’s stand on drone strikes and blockade of Nato supplies was very clear.
PTI’s sit-in to block Nato supplies will continue till achievement of desired results, he added.
Khan said his party’s provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) was the custodian of people's trust and representative of their dreams and expectations, adding that all promises made with them would be fulfilled.
He said the party was working on a policy of zero tolerance towards corruption, inefficiency and “VIP culture.”
“We are working hard to serve the people of KP for attaining peace and prosperity through development and our goal is to introduce reforms for good governance and to bring social, economic and educational change for its people.”
The main objective of the Right to Public Services Law 2013 to improve service delivery, restore confidence of masses in public offices and make government officials responsive to the needs of public, said the cricketer-turned-politician.
Lauding sacrifices of police, he said 700 policemen in KP have lost their lives in last six years in fight against terrorism.
Imran Khan said loadshedding was one of the major reason behind price hike and if the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) was handed over to the KP government, not only menace of power stealing would be ended but inexpensive electricity would be generated as well.
Chief Minister KP Pervez Khattak and provincial ministers, besides advisors to the CM and office bearers of PTI, were also present on the occasion.
