MINGORA: Girls rights activist Malala Yousafzai on Saturday donated medicines and ECG machine worth Rs0.5 million to Saidu Sharif Teaching Hospital.

A press release issued here on Saturday said Malala donated Rs0.5 million for welfare of the people of Swat. She gave the amount from the prizes she received during her campaign abroad for promoting girls education in Pakistan. The news release said she had formed a five-member committee to purchase life saving medicines, including drug for heart patients, and ECG machine. The committee, headed by renowned educationist, Ahmad Shah, handed over the medicines and ECG machine to administration of Saidu hospital. The donation is meant for providing free treatment to poor and deserving patients. Malala would continue helping the people of Swat, said the press release.
