Nawabshah roads

Published December 30, 2013

IN Nawabshah town bazaars and streets have started narrowing by the day due to encroachments, erecting of unauthorised structures and extending the front space of shops by shopkeepers.

The shopkeepers extend their shops on most of the roads, including the market’s road No1 and No2, Phatak Road, Masjid Road, Kutchery Road, Chakra Bazaar and Station Road.

Shopkeepers have allowed pushcart owners to stand in front of their shops and charge Rs300 a day, making difficult for pedestrians and customers to move about in the market. Road No. 1 of the market is completely closed.

On Kutchery Road, photostat machines, stamp venders and notary public have illegally raised structures and sheds outside their respective outlets.

There is a mushroom growth of vending stalls in the business and commercial areas and annexation of wide portions of roads and pavements by shopkeepers and vendors.

The district administration should shift the notary public, stamp vendors and photostat machines to the Civil Court’s premises and demolish illegal structures and sheds erected by traders and shopkeepers outside their respective outlets.

The Deputy Commissioner should cancel the licenses of notary public and stamp vendors who do not voluntarily shift to the Civil Court’s premises.
