RAWALPINDI: Former president Pervez Musharraf’s son met him in the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC).

Security sources told Dawn that Bilal Musharraf arrived in the hospital at about 8pm on Saturday and stayed with his father for the whole night. He left the hospital on Sunday morning and went to his parents’ farmhouse in Chak Shahzad.

Later, Mr Bilal reached Benazir Bhutto International Airport and left for Abu Dhabi in an Etihad Airways flight (EY-234) at about 2pm.

According to the sources, besides other people a retired lieutenant general was also not allowed to see the former military ruler in the hospital for security reasons on Sunday.

Security around Gen Musharraf has further been tightened in the light of intelligence reports that militants from Al Qaeda’s Badrul Mansoor group were planning to assassinate him. The sources said law enforcement agencies had been directed to further tighten security around Musharraf.—Staff Reporter
