MIANWALI: The Chief Minister’s Inspection Team (CMIT), headed by Maj Shahnawaz (retired) and its member Hamayun Akhter, visited here on Friday to probe the incident of filling the stadium with teachers and other government employees against their will for the public meeting of Shahbaz Sharif.
The chief minister was expected to visit Mianwali on Jan 8 to distribute cheques worth Rs25.40 million among 966 flood-hit families, but the visit had been cancelled because of bad weather.
Realizing a lack of public interest in CM’s visit, the district administration, in a bid to save themselves from embarrassment, adopted an old modus operandi and forced every department falling under the provincial government to send their employees to fill the stadium for the CM’s address. The CMIT team visited various schools on Friday and inquired about the presence of teachers on that specific day besides recording statements of various officials and some common people.
Intriguingly, most of teachers denied that they had gathered at the stadium for CM’s address, but were speechless to see their photos and video clips available with the CMIT team.
