HYDERABAD: A Wapda official was shot at and seriously injured by two unidentified motorcyclists at Mir Fazal town in Latifabad Unit No. 9 within the remit of B-Section police station on Saturday.

The two suspects knocked at the door of the house of Syed Nazim Ali Shah. They also called his name when the official’s wife answered the knock. As soon as Nazim came out, they opened fire and fled, according to SHO of B-Section police station Khalid Iqbal Pathan.

He was taken to Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) Hyderabad where doctors operated upon his abdomen and pelvis. The injured, who needed a vascular surgery, was referred to a private hospital in Karachi, LUH casualty ward incharge Dr Shaukat Lakho told Dawn.

He said the patient had received multiple bullets in abdomen, pelvis, hips and lower parts. After the surgery, the patient was stable, but his left leg was not working properly.

Police suspected that the motive behind the attack could be some old enmity.

Robbery

A salesman of a mobile phone franchise was deprived of Rs800,000 cash near Bhittai Chowk in Latifabad at gunpoint by two unidentified motorcyclists within the jurisdiction of B-Section police station on Saturday.

Salesman Shakeel was going to deposit the money in a bank branch.
