ATTOCK: The annual elections of District Bar Association Attock were held here under the supervision of an election committee headed by senior lawyers.

Irfanullah Malik advocate was elected as the bar’s president after securing 151 votes against his opponent Sheikh Sohail Ahmed Siddique who bagged 105 votes.

Mrs Fiaz Iqbal advocate was elected General Secretary as she received 141 votes against the 127 votes of rival candidate Sufi Mohammad Ishfaq Ahmed advocate.

Sheikh Kamran Shehzad Siddique was elected vice president with 146 votes after defeating Mohammad Amin (122 votes). Moreover, Miss Zahrun Nisa, Syed Bilal Haider and Hamid Ali Khan were elected on the posts of joint sectary, finance secretary and library secretary respectively.

In addition, 10 lawyers were elected executive members of the association. These are: Malik Rab Nawaz Hayat, Malik Riffat Hayat, Malik Sajjad Ahmed Rafique, Waqar Ahmed, Mian Attaur Rehman, Shafqat Rehman, Sheikh Asif Mehmood Siddique, Shah Nawaz, Mohammad Bakhtiar Ahmed and Syed Ahmed Shah.

JAND: The election of the tehsil bar association Jand was also held under the supervision of an election committee headed by Malik Ameer Nawaz.

Malik Sajjad Ahmed was elected the president after a close contest with Mohammad Yaqoob Khan after securing 22 votes against his opponent’s 20.

Shaukat Iqbal Khattak was elected general secretary after receiving 22 votes against the 20 votes of Malik Talhat Rasheed.

Sardar Mohammad Ejaz, Waqar Haider Qureshi and Mehboob Ahmed Awan were elected vice president, joint secretary and finance secretary respectively.

TAXILA: Similarly lawyers of Taxila and Wah Cantt on Sunday elected new office bearers for the bar.

According to the results announced by election commissioner Abdul Malik Sherpao, Raja Ghulam Murtaza was elected president while Mubashir Ali Naqvi was elected general secretary.

Basit Ali was elected vice president, Irfan Haider joint secretary and Tahir Mehmood Raja as finance secretary.

About 170 lawyers had cast their votes in the elections.
