ISLAMABAD, June 23: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) secretary, Brig Musarratullah Khan on Monday was neither willing to confirm nor deny if a change in team management was on cards.

“We have a set of six or seven options before us and these would be discussed with the president before anything is finalised,” he told Dawn.

Having said that he added that there could be no change at all but everything would become clear once he met Gen Muhammad Aziz, the PHF boss. “We were to meet today but the president was busy and now I’ll be seeing him on Tuesday.” The venue of the meeting could either be Lahore or Rawalpindi, he said.

Pakistan lost two back-to-back tournaments in Australia earlier in the month under manager Shahnaz Shaikh and coach Tahir Zaman which led to the PHF beginning to think about change.

Shahnaz was appointed as the coach late last year before being made the manager just before the Australia trip. Under his command, Pakistan won the Azlan Shah Cup in Malaysia in March.

Meanwhile, Musarrat who is due to leave for Busan on Tuesday to attend the Asian Hockey Federation meeting on June 26 and 27, said that the Chinese team would be touring Pakistan in July.

They will be playing the national junior and senior sides in Karachi between July 8 and 14 before leaving for Rawalpindi to take on POF in Wah and facing Army in the days between July 15 and 18.
