KHYBER: A roadside remote-controlled bomb blast in Khyber Wednesday killed two volunteers of the Amn Committee, DawnNews reported.

Unknown militants installed a remote-controlled bomb at a roadside in Khyber's Zakakhel area near a barricaded post of Amn Committee. The bomb went off with a loud explosion. Subsequently, two Amn Committee volunteers were killed.

Following the explosion, security personnel cordoned off the area and a probe into the incident went underway.

Earlier last week, nine people, including three children, were killed and several others wounded when a blast rocked the house of a tribal elder in the northwestern Khyber tribal region.

Khyber is part of Pakistan’s semi-autonomous tribal belt on the Afghan border. The Taliban and other Al Qaeda-linked groups, who stage attacks in both countries, are known to have strongholds in the zone.
