ISLAMABAD: Pakistan number one Aqeel Khan outplayed Shehzad Khan 6-3, 6-0 while his brother Yasir Khan beat Mohammad Mudassir 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 to reach the Subh-e-nau National Clay Court Tennis Championship semi-finals at the PTF Complex here on Saturday.

In the other quarter-finals, Abid Ali beat Usman Rafiq 6-4, 6-3 while Mohammad Abid overcame a spirited challenge from Heera Ashiq by 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-2.

In the doubles contest, the talented pair of Abid Ali and Babar Ali displayed a superb game to beat the Imran Shaukat-Malik Abdul Rehman duo by 6-3, 6-4 in the men’s doubles prequarter-final.

In the ladies singles first round, Fatima Sattar defeated Shahida Kauser Farooq in an interesting match which continued for about two hours by 4-6, 6-4, 7-5. In another fine contest, Shahida Badshah overcame Kainat by 6-0, 6-1.

Boys singles U-18 quarter-finals: Hamza Bin Atif bt Talha Bin Asif 7-5, 7-6 (4); Mohammad Mudasir bt Naufail Kaleem 4-6, 6-1, 6-2; Zaid Mujahid bt Malik Hamza 5-7, 6-2, 6-3; Muzammil Khan bt Abdul Haider 6-2, 6-3.

Boys singles U-14 semi-finals: Hafiz Arbab bt Mir Shahzib 6-0 (retd); Ilham Khan bt Umar Habib 4-1, 4-0.—Agencies
