KARACHI: Unknown gunmen on Tuesday attacked Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) leader Maulana Zarin in Karachi's Landhi area, DawnNews reported.

The ASWJ leader was in Landhi's Labour Colony when unidentified assailants opened fire on his vehicle.

However, Zarin remained safe in the attack.

The group has recently witnessed a series of attacks on its leaders.

On Dec 6, Punjab-based leader of ASWJ, Maulana Shamsur Rehman Muawiya, was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Lahore.

On Jan 3, the general secretary of ASWJ's Islamabad chapter, Mufti Muneer Muawiya, and an office-bearer of the Sunni Muslim group, Qari Asad Mahmood, were gunned down in the capital's I-8 sector.
