KARACHI: Two Matches were decided in the fourth National Veterans Cup, being organised by the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association.
In the first match, Sialkot Veterans beat Islamabad Panthers by 33 runs at the National Ground, Islamabad.
Batting first, Sialkot Seniors Gold scored 221 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Abbas Shah played a brilliant knock of 75 not out off only 32 balls with 5 sixes and 7 fours. Sajid Janjua scored 58 runs in 36 balls with 11 fours.
For Islamabad Panthers Mehmood Iqbal took 2 wickets for 43 runs. In reply, the Islamabad Panthers could only score 188-7 in 20 overs. Mohammad Pervaiz scored 60 runs in 43 balls with 2 sixes and 5 fours.
In the second match played at Bagh-e-Jinnah Cricket Ground, Lahore, Lahore Lions beat Lahore Blues in the 12-a-side game.
Batting first, Lahore Blue scored 122 runs for loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs. Aamir Rafiq scored 57 runs with one six and 7 fours. For Lahore Lions Sajjad Akber took 2 wickets for 19 runs.
Lahore Lions scored the required 125 runs without losing any wicket. Former Pakistan player Naveed Anjum scored unbeaten 72 runs off 50 balls with one six and 9 fours while Zahir Hussain scored 49 not out with the help of six fours.—Agencies
