Musharraf files application

ISLAMABAD: After furnishing surety bonds of Rs2.5 million to avoid arrest in his treason case, former president retired Gen Pervez Musharraf has filed an application before the special court against issuance of his arrest warrants.

Gen Musharraf requested the court to reverse the process it has started to procure his attendance in the case by issuing his bailable arrest warrants.

Defence counsel Faisal Hussain told Dawn that Gen Musharraf had furnished the bail bonds ‘under protest’.

“Since the question about jurisdiction of the special court is still pending, Gen Musharraf still thinks that the three-member bench lacks jurisdiction to proceed in the matter,” he said.
