Jr hockey trials from July 5

KARACHI, June 26: Two-day trials to select 20- member Pakistan Junior Hockey squad for the upcoming tour of Europe will be held at Pakistan Steel Township from July 5, Director Administration, Pakistan Hockey Federation Col (Retd) Abdul Rauf said on Thursday.

He clarified that trials which were earlier schedule to be held from June 27 will now be held from July 5 and not from July 2 as reported.

Pakistan squad for the tour of Spain and Poland will be announced on July 6.

In the meantime three-day break has been given to 43 boys attending the national junior camp in preparation for the Europen tour.

Boys are given break to relax and allow themselves in other recreational activities to overcome dreary condition.

Team full back Ikhlaq Ahmed, who was struck on the back of the hand had recovered from hand injury.

Centre forward Mahmood Ali was still recovering from ring finger hairline fracture. Mahmood mistakenly removed covering from his immobile finger.

The training at the camp will resume on Monday. Prior to the departure for Spain, Pakistan junior team will be play three match series against touring Chinese team.— APP
