CHITRAL: The Chitral city and its adjacent villages are without electricity for the second consecutive week as the district remained disconnected from the national grid as a result of heavy snowfall.
Sources said that heavy snowfall had caused damage to four power poles at Lowari Pass and smashed the cables. Consumers have expressed concern over the delay in restoration of power supply from the national grid. Awami National Party's local women wing president Khadija Sardar has criticised the federal government for its indifference towards the people of Chitral.
In a statement here, she said that hundreds of women associated with cottage industry had been affected in the absence of electricity. She warned of a protest if electricity was not restored in a week. — Correspondent
