NOWSHERA: Traders in Pabbi bazaar on Tuesday took to the streets against the ongoing anti-encroachment drive by the local administration.

The procession was led by Jamaat-i-Islami, Nowshera naib ameer Anwar ul Islam, office-bearers of Anjuman-i-Tajaran, Pabbi Shahab Kauser, Asharaf Khan and others.

They said that business community had already removed encroachments identified by the administration, but the officials were teasing them under the guise of anti-encroachment operation. They warned of blocking the GT Road if the operation was not halted.

Meanwhile, the local administration continued its anti-encroachment operation in different areas and warned the shopkeepers to remove illegal structures from Cherat Road and Pabbi station, or face action.

The drive was supervised by Nowshera assistant commissioner Abdul Hameed Khan, additional AC Abdul Baseer Khan and tehsil municipal officer Waheed ur Rehman. The officials visited the Pabbi area and warned those shopkeepers, who had not yet removed encroachments, to demolish the illegal structures or face action. — Correspondent
