ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Army has categorically rejected allegations levelled by Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan's (TTP) that women and children from their families were in the custody of security forces' personnel.
Commenting on the issue, a spokesman for the inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said not a single woman or child was in the custody of security forces' personnel.
"In fact, women and children have never been detained," the spokesman said in a statement.
The military spokesman moreover termed the TTP's accusation baseless and said it was mere propaganda to divert attention from the real issue of the group's blatant and dastardly acts of terror across the country.
Earlier, TTP had claimed that a number of women and children were in the custody of security forces and that they should be released as a precondition for peace talks with the government.
