ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday granted exemption to former military ruler General (r) Pervez Musharraf from appearing in court today for the hearing of the judges' detention case and adjourned the case to March 7, DawnNews reported.

During the hearing, counsel for the former president, Advocate Ilyas Siddiqui, requested the court to grant his client exemption from appearing before it today which was granted.

He further said that the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) was not providing Musharraf's defence team with his medical reports and added that the court may seek these on its own.

Meanwhile, public prosecutor Nadeem Tabish said neither Musharraf nor his guarantors were appearing before the court and requested it to decide over the matter on merit at the next hearing of the case.

Subsequently, the court adjourned the hearing to March 7.

The judges' detention case is based on an FIR against the retired general registered in August 2009 on the complaint of Chaudhry Mohammad Aslam Ghumman advocate.

He had asked the police to initiate legal proceedings against Musharraf for detaining over 60 judges, including then chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, after proclamation of a state of emergency in the country on Nov 3, 2007.
