RAWALPINDI, Dec 15 : Eid shopping in Rawalpindi city and cantonment has entered its final stages with women, girls and children making rounds of the dazzling shopping plazas on Bank Road, Kashmir Road, Murree Road, Commercial Centre, Chaklala Scheme-III, Moti Bazaar and other centres in the city to complete their shopping list.

Since Friday shopping centres in Rawalpindi are bustling with activity and parking lots jammed with new and old cars.

Some of the roads in main Saddar are congested with cars moving bumper to bumper, with little space left for pedestrians, who are seen hurrying past cars, bikes and other vehicles and zigzagging across the roads to get from end to another.

Traffic police have a tough time controlling the heavy rush on the roads and to make matters worse, youngsters riding high- powered bikes played tricks on what little space was available on the road.

Rush of shoppers is greatest in Saddar area, where shoe shops, readymade garments and children stuff abound. Shoe shops attract the largest number of shoppers. Ready-made garment stores in both Saddar, Murree Road, Commercial Centre Satellite Town, and Moti Bazaar are the favourite haunt of women and they are doing a roaring business for the last two days.

Similarly bangle shops in all parts of the city are doing great business. The local shopkeepers have bought large varieties of bangles from Hyderabad, famous for manufacturing colourful glass bangles.

Chotta Bazaar near Hathi Chowk in Saddar attracted huge crowds of lower middle class women for comparatively cheaper cosmetics, trinkets and warm clothing like sweaters, jerseys etc.

Majority of women living in downtown areas inevitably turn to their favourite Moti Bazaar for shopping that offers the best and economical shopping.

Bara Bazaar, situated in the heart of the city, also gives a festive look and is crowded with shoppers from all economic stratas.

Henna, the most popular and vital part of the shopping list is sold all over the city and doing roaring business and at times the shoppers also offer to make beautiful and creative designs on the palm.
