ISLAMABAD: A counsel for former military dictator General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, Anwar Mansoor, on Thursday filed an appeal in the Supreme Court of Pakistan against the decision of the special court of not conducting the treason trial of the former president in a military court, DawnNews reported.
Earlier, the special court raised objections against Musharraf’s appeal to conduct the treason trial of the former president in a military court.
Previously on Feb 21 the special court constituted to try former military ruler Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf ruled that the treason trial of the former president would not take place in a military court and has summoned him before it on March 11.
The three-judge court, headed by Justice Faisal Arab of the Sindh High Court, had deferred the framing of charges and said these would be read out once the court announced its judgment on on whether or not the special court has the jurisdiction to try the retired general for treason.
Initially, Musharraf had filed three applications that challenged the appointment of the head of the prosecution team, the establishment and the jurisdiction of the special court.
His team has said more than once that unless the jurisdiction of the court was decided, Gen Musharraf could not be indicted.
The 70-year-old is facing treason charges, which can carry the death penalty, over his imposition of a state of emergency in 2007 while he was president.
The former general has been in a military hospital since falling ill with heart trouble while travelling to court on Jan 2.

Now to the bunch of crony lawyers: Didn't this Ex-general make a statement that he came back to face the charges against him and some in the media hailed him as a hero for that statement? So what's this fuss about? Bring him to the court and role the dice. What are you afraid off? You know where he is going, so what's the point of all this?

They say it is better to be in one boat then have two foots in two boats. Was not this super commando general was first the Army Chief and then he entered into politics and shed his uniform and as he shed the uniform there is the case for his trial. See what a difference it makes when one man tries to sail having commands of two sail boats and he cannot control the sails when the sea gets tough. They rightly say, you get into Bermuda Triangle and get into HOT WATERS.

He is not smoking any cigars but he is being choking on the diverse options and advises of his Ace lawyers, like Sahebzada Qasuri, Syed Shareefuddin Pirzada, and the company trying to make him stay at the hospital, add to their fees handsomely, and when he is bankrupt to leave the trial for non payment.

You cannot be immortal soloist but you are playing a tune of injustice. Like Sahebzada Qasuri said the gen is Sayed, is he clean and pure and pak of all sins, did not he have personal vendetta against the Supreme Court chief that landed him into trouble due to his own miscalculations, did he have no vendetta to overthrow his loyalty to topple the government who made him the Chief. Again cost effectiveness in for the good cause to establish accountability.
He acted on bad advice of Syed Sharifuddin Pirzada who wrote his injunction and now he if paying a hefty price again to SSP so he could bail him out from the consequences of his acting on the ignorance of law, but he was counseled and now counseled against as to how to get out of the trouble he got into by the same advisors, he has to pay a price and the Government should recover from him all the cost for balancing act.

Also he is not smoking cigars solitary he is enjoined in the smoke filled hospital room with the fuming smokes of his lawyers like raging bulls we will get you out and do not you worry just keep paying us handsomely, until you can. Now they want him to be tried at military court when he was a civilian president. I never heard in my life that lawyers of that caliber can be real JOKERS.

People of Pakistan have short memories and no independent thought. They conveniently forgot how Nawaz league stormed supreme court back in the nineties. How several army generals were shown the door by Nawaz Sharif. How corrupt the PPP and PML (N) governments were. They want to support the same people who have been tested several times and always found to be the most corrupt politicians.
There is no comparison between the Pervaiz Musharraf government and PPP / PML (N) government. Country was prospering, common man had some respite from soaring prices. Stock exchange was gaining ground, rupee remained steady against all currencies throughout the eight years. Country's foreign exchange reserves climbed from less than a billion to 16 billion dollars during Musharraf's tenure. That too after paying off all IMF loans.
Look at where the country is now. Shame on us for not supporting probably the only honest leader we have. I guess we are also corrupt and deserve Nawaz Sharif / Asif Zardari.

Principle suggest that everyone, and anyone who break the law, should be tried, thing is...this never happens in Pakistan, so singling him out is simply injustice to him. Were the other former dictators, or Army Chiefs including the current one, not doing everything on their own? Attacking FATA with Jets was not something that came from civilian government. This is a crime, that army does not take civilian government orders and act on its own. So when all are black sheep, why punish one? As for the money thing, I am sure his so called trial is costing way less than the advertisements of Government in the newspapers.
