Taliban committee to remain intact, says Yousuf Shah

ISLAMABAD: Member of the Taliban's mediating committee, Maulana Yousuf Shah said on Tuesday that the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan had decided to maintain its existing team for the dialogue process with the government, DawnNews reported.

Shah, after holding a telephonic conversation with Taliban leaders, announced that the existing committee would remain intact.

He further said that the Taliban were serious about talks and no demands were put forward from either sides as yet.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting to discuss matters related to internal security and the names of persons to be included in the government and Taliban mediations.

The meeting was also attended by Chief of the Army Staff Gen. Raheel Sharif , Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Rashid Mehmood, Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) Chief Lt Gen Zaheer ul Islam, Chief of General Staff (CGS) Lt Gen Ishfaq Nadeem Ahmad, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Federal Defence MInister Khawaja Asif and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
