LAKKI MARWAT: Police on Sunday arrested a hardened criminal in injured condition after an encounter in Shakh Quli Khan village bordering the frontier tribal region.

The proclaimed offender, Hameedullah had come to the area to commit some crime, said an official, adding that a police party backed by Elite Force commandos and Anti-Terror Squad personnel besieged the house of the outlaw.

“The proclaimed offender started firing on the personnel, triggering an encounter. “The cops captured the wanted criminal in injured condition and seized a pistol and bullets from him,” he maintained.

Separately, police also claimed to have arrested a notorious robber during a surprise raid in Naurang town. An official said the raid was carried out in a village near Naurang on information about the presence of criminal, Zakaullah, there.

He said Zakaullah was wanted to police in cases of robbery murder. Police recovered a pistol and bullets from him. —Correspondent
