DADU, Oct 11: The Nazims of several union councils of district Dadu have complained against the DCO Dadu for not releasing the funds for the purchase of furniture and stationary for their offices.
The Nazim of union council Thallo of taluka Khairpur Nathan Shah Abid Hussain Lakhair told Dawn the other day the Sindh government had released Rs10 million for the purchase of furniture and other items for the offices of union council Nazims in September but the DCO Dadu had neither released nor informed any Nazim about the funds.
He said he had a meeting with the DCO and requested him to release the fund but the DCO refused to release the funds for his office.
He complained as the DCO had not provided offices to the Nazims of some major union councils of the district, most of the Nazims had been working without offices, furniture and staff.
The Nazim of the union council-2 of Dadu town Haji Nisar Ahmed Shaikh said the DCO had told him to work in a vacant bungalow of divisional engineer of Public Health department Dadu.
He added when he tried to decorate the bungalow as the office, an engineer of the Public Health Dadu division asked him to quit the possession of the bungalow.
He regretted he had been working without office, staff and furniture.
According to a survey conducted by this scribe, the district administration had not provided the offices and staff to some 25 Nazims of the union councils in the district. Most of these Nazims belong to Dadu, Johi and Kotri.
Although the Nazims had been given possession letters from the assistant director of Local Government department and the DCO Dadu but the concerned officials of the several departments were not accepting these letters.
When contacted, the DCO Mohammad Qasim Lashari admitted the Sindh government had released Rs10 million for Nazim offices.
